We're captivated by how the arcs of boat rigging create patterns that guide the eye toward the subject, almost without needing forced positioning. The light here isn't the scorching midday sun, but the mid-morning glow when sunlight hits water at a low angle, casting blue shadows under wooden hulls. Each boat registers a different color temperature: some reflect sky, others absorb water's depth.

Samaná's fishing port is alive. As we shoot, we hear rope scraping metal, water splashing against wooden hulls, people working in the background without posing. This isn't an empty stage: it's a working place where we photograph within its natural flow, not outside of it. The traditional boats—with their painted names, carefully coiled nets—speak of generations.

We observe how bronzed skin acquires a different luminosity when surrounded by turquoise water and the intense blues of the boats.
